Tier 2

Dams are an old technique used by humans and beavers alike. This, like everything has it’s positives and negatives but the positives out weigh the negatives. Damming a river  can be a very good thing because it can protect living things like humans that have built or live along side. This however can also be a negative because flooding can cause soil “rehabilitation” like what happens to the Nile. But this was interrupted and stopped by the Soviets. They built a dam and ruined the whole thing. This however this is a unusual case because the Nile and it’s flooding is rather unique. Dams are also used to create reservoirs. These are great because they create a large and new habitat that can accommodate more animals. In drought weather this can also save humans and animals, where the river would have been diminished the reservoir could hold much more water. And this also creates a cool and nice place to enjoy water sports. And the third is hydroelectricity production. Dams can harness the power of the water flowing and use it to turn a turbine creating electricity with no harmful bi products. Dams alone power 10% of our nations power use and that is with our limited use. This coupled with everything else is why i believe dams should still be used today.
